My questionsWhat were the specific skills students needed? How do those connect to reading powers?Where can I find the song story books? How can this be applied in a k-5 school setting? How would visuals have supported understanding? If math proficiency testing was implemented what is the plan to support teachers who are not successful? How can these ideas be extended to older students? How can parents be taught about story workshop to increase parent support and buy in?

Thinking about my own plan for my capstone and long term goal wanting to create and eventually publish a program for number sense teaching and assessment I think that either a website or short video series would be a good format for sharing information on number sense. I am thinking about a short video series of 5-6 minutes per installment on each of the 5 strands of number sense or even shorter videos for social media. Many teachers primarily access ideas and educational content through social media, I think that creating  and sharing ideas in a public forum that is easily accessible for many educators is going to be the best way to share my ideas.  While writing papers and producing classroom resources and websites is valuable and supports teaching and learning there is no point if the ideas can’t be shared. In many of my conversations though my PME journey there has been discussion of meeting students where they are and how they access ideas and information we need to do the same for teachers. Virtual PLCs through various social media platforms are often home to lively conversation and sharing, I think posting my ideas where people are already accessing the information is going to be important. This term I want to prepare background information on number sense and how the 5 strands work together as well as creating a sample assessment for a few grades, focusing on k-5. Long term I want to create something larger that could potentially be published as a book complete with activities to support number sense development along a continuum.
