I have attached my grade 4 introduction to division unit. With all of my math units I like to focus on conceptual understanding first then move to the applications so my units are fairly slow paced in the beginning then pick up as we move along. I find that my students typically respond well to this approach. When planning this unit, I really took time to see where I could focus on the technology piece to have my students be content creators rather than consumers. While there are days my students will get some practice in with Mathletics at their technology station, I think I have made a fairly positive change to them being creators using clips, iMovie, photos and video. I’m sure there is a lot more that could be done with older students however these are the tools I know my students can use independently and confidently. By choosing tools they feel confident with they are able to focus on the math and the content they are sharing rather than stressing about a new app. This is the first time I have included my technology station in my unit plan and I hope it is going to lead to a more rounded use of technology in math.
